    Technical Officer

Ready to take something good and make it great?
We’re looking for a smart, driven Technical Officer who wants more than a routine compliance job.

If you love structure but see potential in every spreadsheet, form, or process, this is your chance to shape how things work – not just follow what’s always been done.
You’ve got a background in food science, food tech, or something similar – and you know your way around specifications, systems, and standards.
You understand BRCGS or GFSI frameworks, not just in theory but in how they work day-to-day.
You’re tech-savvy and comfortable diving into digital tools and making them work smarter, experience working with a QMS.
You spot inefficiencies and instinctively think, “There’s a better way to do this.”
You’re organised, curious, and not afraid to own your area – but you're just as happy working with others to solve problems and drive things forward.
You care about the detail, but you're excited by progress.

As Technical Officer, you’ll play a central role in ensuring technical and compliance processes run smoothly, while driving improvements to how we manage specifications, supplier records, and internal documentation.
You’ll work and collaborate with internal teams and external consultants to ensure day-to-day compliance, while bringing a fresh perspective to how we manage data, respond to customer queries, and support our growing own-brand range.

    You’ll maintain and improve:

    • Product specifications, SAQs, and COCs
    • Supplier compliance records and SOPs aligned with BRCGS clauses
    • Digital systems and technical documentation
    • Internal reviews such as GMP, traceability, and system checks
    • Responses to technical product enquiries and customer requests

This is a role for someone with food safety or food tech knowledge, who understands BRCGS frameworks, and is excited to use tech and insight to streamline and enhance how we operate.

    Skills and competencies

    • Technical proficiency – confident using digital systems (e.g. QMS, WMS, etc.); able to identify and implement tech-based process improvements.
    • Strong attention to detail – maintains accurate records, ensures full traceability, and understands the impact of small errors in compliance work.
    • Analytical mindset – able to assess risks, evaluate documentation, and translate regulatory requirements into practical systems and SOPs.
    • Problem-solver – brings initiative to improve workflows, challenge outdated methods, and streamline operations.
    • Excellent communicator – capable of presenting technical information clearly to non-technical teams and collaborating across departments.
    • Organised and adaptable – balances structured documentation tasks with fastmoving project work and evolving priorities.
    • Process ownership – comfortable taking responsibility for maintaining, refining, and developing internal systems and documentation.
    • Commercial awareness – understands the importance of product integrity, traceability, and compliance in a fast-paced food environment.

    Qualifications and experience

    • Degree in Food Technology/Food Science (required)
    • 2+ years in a technical/compliance role in the food industry (required)
    • HACCP Level 2 or 3 (desirable)
    • Experience with BRCGS or similar GFSI standard (required)
    • Familiarity with SOPs, internal audits, and documentation systems (required)

    Location
Please note that this is a full-time, office-based role, so applicants will need to live within a commutable distance of Dinnington, S25.

    Purchasing Executive

You don’t just place orders — you think three steps ahead.
You’re a sharp, commercially-minded Purchasing Executive who is equally comfortable deep in a spreadsheet or on the phone with a supplier.
If you love digging into numbers, tracking trends, and finding better ways to manage stock, suppliers, and systems – this is your chance to shape how things work, not just follow what’s always been done.

    • You’ve got experience in purchasing, stock management, or supply chain.
    • You’re comfortable working with ERP systems and Excel – and probably already thinking of ways to make reports smarter and processes slicker.
    • You know that strong supplier relationships matter – and you know how to build them.
    • You care about the detail but you’re motivated by the bigger picture – getting the right product, in the right place, at the right time.
    • You’re organised, commercially aware, and thrive on keeping things running on time and on target.
    • You spot inefficiencies and think “there’s a better way to do this.”

As Purchasing Executive, you’ll take ownership of approximately 20 suppliers, ensuring stock levels are optimised and the flow of goods runs smoothly from order to delivery.
You’ll manage day-to-day purchasing processes, drive improvements in how we track and manage stock, and collaborate across the business to keep everything running seamlessly.

    You’ll manage and improve:

    • Supplier ordering (UK & International) and stock planning
    • ERP reports and data to maintain optimal stock levels
    • Supplier relationships and performance tracking
    • Delivery tracking, transport planning, and Goods In coordination
    • Cross-team collaboration with Sales, Warehouse, Finance, and Operations
    • Identification of process improvements and automation opportunities

You’ll have the opportunity to contribute to sourcing new products and developing our expanding product range.
You may also be required to travel to visit suppliers or trade fairs in the UK or internationally.

    Skills and competencies

    • Technical proficiency – Confident with ERP systems (LV or similar), Excel, and data-driven stock management.
    • Strong attention to detail – Ensures accuracy across orders, stock levels, and reports.
    • Commercial awareness – Understands cost, margin, stock targets, and supplier performance.
    • Problem-solver – Proactively addresses delivery issues, stock gaps, and system improvements.
    • Excellent communicator – Builds strong supplier relationships and works cross-functionally.
    • Organised and adaptable – Balances day-to-day purchasing with ongoing process improvement.
    • Ownership mindset – Takes accountability for managing supplier portfolio and stock performance.

    Qualifications and experience

    • Previous experience in a purchasing, stock control, or supply chain role (required)
    • Experience with ERP systems (LV or similar) and Excel (required)
    • Strong numeracy and analytical skills
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Ability to work independently while collaborating across departments
    • Experience in import purchasing or food/FMCG sectors (desirable)

    Salary
£28-30k per annum depending on experience.

Earlier this year, the Barry Callebaut factory in Belgium closed for several months following a salmonella-positive chocolate production lot. While the factory has re-opened and our Callebaut stocks are improving again, the closure had a significant ripple effect on the chocolate industry and our other brands continue to be in high demand.
